Текст Раскадровки

  • HI! My name is Leila!
  • HI! My name is Evan!
  • Bark! My name is Tai!
  • HI! My name is Gideon!
  • Today we are going to learn about mountains!
  • We all know what mountains are, right?
  • But you probably don’t know everything! I taught you something just from the intro.
  • Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!
  • Tai is saying sit back and listen to these facts and hopefully you learn a thing or two.
  • When will He stop using facts all the time!?
  • This is my notebook. I keep all my facts in it. Like this one When plates shift mountains are formed.
  • Mountains are made up of the earth's crust. Roof!
  • Some of the land goes underneath the crust, and some collides creating mountains.
  • When magma is forced through cracks in the earth’s crust the magma cools down in different layers.
  • Sharp mountains are formed when forces inside of the earth push off pieces of land mass creating these mountains.
  • The result of this is a cone shape over time. This is a volcanic mountain.
  • Fault block mountains are usually formed when tectonic plates move past each other.
  • Plates can also form large mountain ranges like the himalayas. It takes a long time for mountains to form, and they move 2 inches a year. Bark!
  • The temperature of the mountains help scientists see how fast they cooled and how fast they were made.
  • The plates that make mountains are like a jigsaw puzzles, when they hit each other they push up towards the sky.
  • Mountains have a major impact on the environment and the climate.
  • Mountains are still growing today!
  • ¼ of land on earth are covered in mountains.
  • After growing for millions of years, mountains cannot grow any taller, only wider.
  • The mountain ranges are called mountain belts.
  • The mountains stop the moisture in the wind
  • There are four different types of mountains: folded mountains, fault block mountains, volcanic mountains, and dome mountains.
  • Upwarped mountains are formed when the crust gets pushed up.
  • Mountains are formed in the overriding land mass.
  • I forgot how big that mountain was!
  • Now we will tell you about mountains all over the world!
  • This will take a while!
  • The Himlayas are the youngest mountain range in the world! This immense mountain range began to form between 40 and 50 million years ago! When India and Eurasia plates collided, and the Himalayas began to grow. Scientists have also determined that the Himalayas as a whole are still growing at a rate 2.4 inches per year! Which is twice as fast as previously thought.
  • The Appalachian Mountains started forming 480 million years ago! It is in the surrounding hills and the dissected plateau region. Appalachian Mountains are near the states Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and North Carolina. As well as sometimes moving far south to Northern Alabama, Georgia and also Western South Carolina. Bark!
  • The Alps are one of the largest and highest mountain ranges in the world, forming an arc of 1,200 km in length from Nice to Vienna and covering about 192,000 km²! The mountain range stretches across 8 different countries: France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. The countries with the greatest alpine territory are Austria (28.7%), Italy (27.2%), France (21.4%) and Switzerland (13.2%).
  • The Rocky Mountains stretch 3,000 km in straight-line distance from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico in the Southwestern United States. This mountain range formed 80 million to 55 million years ago in which a number of plates began sliding underneath the North American plate. Some of the states this mountain range passes through include Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho and New Mexico. The Rocky Mountains are growing on average somewhere between about 5 whole meters per year.
  • THE END!
  • UH OH! It's starting to snow! I better get out of here!
