1 Good Morning Mr. and Mrs. Lodge. Mrs. Lodge tommorow is your laparoscopic surgery. How do you feel?
2 Good Morning Doc. Del Rosario. I feel nervous, since this is my first surgery. And may I ask if this is high risk procedure?
1 I understand that. But don't be nervous since this is low risk and minimally invasive procedure that requires only small incisions.
2 May we knowhow will you perform this procedure?
3We will use an instrument called a laparoscope to look at the abdominal organs. A laparoscope is a long, thin tube with a high-intensity light and a high-resolution camera at the front. The instrument is inserted through an incision in the abdominal wall. As it moves along, the camera sends images to a video monitor. Doing this procedure can help us diagnose your wife and we can also explore in there to find out more about the abdominal pain your wife is having.
1 You’ll probably need to avoid eating and drinking for at least eight hours before surgery. And I suggest you should also arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home after the procedure. Since Laparoscopy is often performed using general anesthesia, which can make you drowsy and unable to drive for several hours after surgery. You will also undergo various blood tests, X-rays, electrocardiograms, or other procedures necessary before surgery.
