- Don't worry son, I'll get us a home real soon. I've just got to find a job first.
- What's gonna happen to us now dad?
- A job with good pay, that way we won't have to live like this anymore. I want better for my son.
- In his small San Francisco apartment, Chris Gardner, a struggling salesman has just spent his life savings investing in bone density machines that he planned to sell to all doctors. They struggle to pay their bills and rent. His double-shift working wife, Lina becomes fed up and leaves Chris and their son.

- The stockbroker internship allows you to get paid in 6 months from now. A lot of people have applied for this job, there's no guarantee that you'll get it. The chances are very slim.
- Chris and his son are left homeless with nowhere to go. Money is tight as his income depends on selling the bone density machines, which so far, don't seem very popular with doctors.

- This is a portable bone density scanner. It's the next big technology in the medical field! It's like an X-ray but much clearer and more practical!

- The internship Chris applied for had very good pay in the span of 6 months, except there was no promise that he would get the job. Still, Chris was determined.

- All while balancing his struggles and the internship, he continues to try to sell bone density machines. Finally, he is able to make some sales.
- From his newfound sales, he has enough money to get himself and his son off of the streets and into a motel. Slowly, he becomes hopeful that things are finally starting to look up for him.
