Hi! My name is Bella and I immigrated to the United States from Brazil!
I decided to move to the U.S. to give myself more opportunities and freedoms that I wouldn't have in Brazil
After I finally became a citizen, I found an apartment to live in that is close to where I work
It was a long process to become a citizen, so I am very proud that I have made it to the point where I can live and work on my own!
During these 5 years, I had to learn Enlgish so I could communicate well with others here
The first thing I had to do to become a citizen was to be a legal permanent resident of the U.S. for 5 years
During my 5 years of being a resident of the U.S. I also worked on studying for the citizenship test and interview I had to pass to become a citizen.
After my 5 years of living here and studying for the test, I was able to take the citizenship test and interview to become a citizen!
Once I passed the test, the last step to becoming a citizen was taking the oath of allegiance to the U.S. This oath means that I now consider the U.S. my home country!
There was a lot of information about the U.S on the test like history and questions about the government
I am very excited that after over 5 years, I can now call myself a U.S. citizen. It was a long process but it was worth it!
Now I can enjoy the same freedoms and rights as other citizens while also finding new opportunites for myself! Immigration was a great choice for me!
