The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the tax on tea by a group of Bostonians disguised as the “Mohawk” people. They dumped out 92,000 lbs worth of tea.

In retaliation to the Boston tea party the British Parliament laid down for measures known as the intolerable acts. This included the Boston Port act, Massachusetts government act, administration of justice act and the quartering act.

The first continental congress convened a little after the intolerable acts to discuss America’s future and the British Parliaments aggression. Delegates even planned on banishing British goods.
In 1775 a man named Paul Revere warned the Colonists that the British were coming to attack Boston. The British arrived at Lexington with 700 men facing 77 minutemen leaving 8 Americans dead. Once the British arrived at Concord, they were outnumbered and ran out of ammunition. They were forced to retire to Boston leaving 273 British Soldiers dead.

The Americans heard about the Britains plan to attack on Bunker Hill and prepared for the challenge. The Americans fought back for the first two charges but ran out of ammo so they had to retreat at the third charge. Although the british managed to take two hills, the Americans left 226 British soldiers killed and 800 wounded.

On July 4th 1776, it was announced that the North 13 Colonies were officially separated from Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence document was approved by the Continental congress. After all of the fighting, taxes, and deaths, The Americans finally retrieved their Freedom.
