Текст Раскадровки

  • When little Timmy raises his hands above the fire, he can feel the hot air rising. This is because in convection, thermal/heat energy travels through the movement of either a liquid or gas. In a solar oven, the warm air moves around the box, and can't escape through the box as there's something covering the opening. This allows the food inside to be cooked.
  • I can feel the hot air rising above this fire!! This is definitely convection.
  • Don't touch that!
  • Conduction is a process where heat transfers between objects through direct contact. Because little Timmy directly touched the hotdog, it burnt his hand, causing him to drop it on the floor. In a solar oven, when the black paper heats up, it also heats up the surrounding air in the box. Which is crucial if we want the food inside to evenly cook.
  • Why did you drop a perfectly good hotdog?!
  • When I came into direct contact with the hotdog, it was really hot, then I dropped it! This is definitely conduction.
  • Radiation is the exchange of thermal energy through thermal emission. When little Timmy put his burnt hotdog into the oven, it goes through electromagnetic waves. This process can be seen in a solar oven as solar radiation is used to heat the construction paper through thermal energy.
  • This is all your fault!
  • My hotdog just went through radiation, its completely burnt now.
