When she was young, Jemison spends her time reading in the school library. She enjoys reading about all types of science, including astronomy.
In high school, Jemison was intrested in becoming a biomedical engineer. She wanted to make and create gadgets that can help the human body.
One day, I want to be a biomedical engineer.
Mae Jemison graduated from high school at age 16, when she was applied to Stanford University. While in Stanford, Mae took part in a number of activities such as dance and theater, in addition to studying.

After becoming a medical doctor, she returned to the US to achieve her dream of applying to NASA. 76 seconds into the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger's flight, all 7 crew members died.
She finally flew into space on September 12, 1992, along with 6 other astronauts abroad the Space Shuttle Endeavor. During the flight, Jemison conducted expirements on her crewmates and herself.
After her historic flight, she says that society can invite women and members of minority groups can contribute. She also has recieved a numerous amount of awards and universities even gave their highest degrees.
