- King Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette had lots of money and power in France. The clergy and the nobles (in the first and second Estate) also had lots of money and power.
- The Third Estate was made up of peasant they had very little money, no land, and no power. They made up 97% #160; of the population. In June 1789, the Tennis Court Oath was formed at a tennis court. Many people thought life would improve.
- 1788 was a bad year for weather. It had a hail storm , the coldest winter , the crops dried out because of the drought and then a flood ruined the farmland
- This meant that many of the third Estate began to strave as they paid a lot of taxes and don't have enough money .There were rumours that the First and Second Estate were hoarding bread too. This made people very angry.
- On 5th October 1788 , A crowd of women march to the palace demanding an audience with the King and for him to move to Paris .When they didn't got an immediate reply..
- They broke in , masscare the guards and cried for the queens blood . Marie Anionette fled to her husband room, scared for her life just as the crowd broke into her room and tear the bed.King Louis finally agree to move to Paris.
