- Dally visits Ponyboy and Johnny, who are hiding out in an abandoned church in Windrixville. Dally then treats the boys to a meal at Dairy Queen, and they begin to discuss the upcoming rumble with the Socs.
- the church fire happened when johnny and pony didn't putout a cigarette and sent the church on fire , the problem was the kids went on a school trip and the church ended up burning down
- pony woke up i an ambulance and hears sirens and immediately thinks that the authorities have come to arrest him and Johnny
- The hospital is where Pony and Dally recover from their burns, and it is where they visit Johnny several times before he dies.
- dally is recovering nicely in the hospital, and for the first time ever Ponyboy feels warmly toward Dally. Dally says that Tim Shepard, the leader of another gang of greasers, came in to talk about the rumble.
- Johnny is in critical condition; his back is broken and he is suffering with third-degree burns. If he lives, he will not be able to walk for the rest of his life.
