- There is nothing surprising about brothers fighting because most brothers fight. But the story ends with scenes of love and beauty between the two brothers. Jayson and Arjay settle their differences and went to bury the dead puppy. As they walk away from the makeshift grave, Jayson wraps an arm around his brother. The morning is warm and Nagrebcan is bathed in golden sunlight. It's as if something very violent and evil hasn't just transpired.
- PERSONAL REACTION:
- Every morning is a new day to fight, and family is extremely important. Perhaps Nana Lena still believes that her husband will change. In either case, the father's beating is unreasonable and unnecessary; he should at least check to see whether his child is wounded and then discipline them properly. Anger cannot solve anything unless it is used productively; instead of killing the puppy, he should have used his energy to aid Arjay. Being a father is simple; you can become a father by having a child, but becoming a family man is more difficult. Tang Charles should teach his children clearly and respect them as his sons, not just his property.
- RESOLUTION:
- Their father went to work after the boys were beaten. Baldo and Ambo walked to the cornfields to look for the puppy's body. They buried it after finding it. They rolled a rock above the poor puppy's resting area.
