  • Creaming methods- the sugar and shortening fat are blended together and then creamed by added mixing. During mixing small air cells and then incorporated into a mix
  • Firstly, we will be talking about cake making, there are 5 different methods in making a cake.
  • Melting methods-in the melting method the fat and sugar are melted together, then allowed to cool to temperature before the eggs are added. The dry ingredients are sifted together, then folded into the wet mixture.
  • All in one method- if you want to save on washing up, go for a simple all in one bake.
  • the whisking method -requires the wet mixture to be whisked in order to incorporate air and body. Usually, this wet mixture is made up of eggs and sugar, which is whisked to ribbon stage.
  • The rubbing-in method produces heavy, crumbly cakes with a moist texture. In this method the fats are rubbed into the flour with fingertips or in a food processor. The raising agent is either self-raising flour or bicarbonate or soda added to plain flour. This method is most similar to pastry.
