- The visitor, Sergeant Major Morris, would show his distaste for the monkey's paw. Just like in the original story, he would warn against it.
- The story would take place in modern times. The family should be in a medium distance from the camera. There would be ominous music after Morris warns against the paw.
- Mr. and Mrs. White would express polite curiosity while Herbert is openly curious about the monkey's paw.

- They are all discussing the monkey's paw and their visitor's vague warning. Mrs. White is very against using the paw, but Herbert and Mr. White are persistent about making a sensible wish. Mr. White wishes for $200,000 to pay his house's monthly mortgage.
- There is silence for a few seconds after Mr. White makes his wish. He shrugs off the monkey's paw, and then ominous music plays as there is a close-up shot into the fire.
- There would be a monkey's face in the fire. It would scarily laugh as menacing music plays.
- Everyone has gone to sleep except Herbert. The scene opens with a close-up shot into the fire and ends with a clear view of the same fire, but with a monkey's face in it.
- Herbert would exclaim his disbelief about what he is seeing in the fire.
