  • The main conflict in this story is Okonkwo's fear with being seen as weak. He does things in the story just because he was worried about how his village would look at him if he didn't. For example killing Ikemefuna even thought they were close.
  • After-life
  • Okonkwo and his family are exiled for seven years and all his reparation is ruined. He is exiled to the village Mbanta to live.
  • Okonkwo kills himself because he couldn't handle the changes the new white men had made to the village. After he had been exiled for seven years it was way too much for him to handle. The district commissioner finds him and then walks away from him because he finds his death intriguing for the book he was writing.
  • Okonkwo's suicide is an unspeakable act that strips him of all honor and denies him the right to an honorable burial. Okonkwo dies an outcast, banished from the very society he fought to protect.
