- The soldiers didn't even look at the 500 or more loaves of bread that were baked , or the singing children, they marched right past and headed towards Te Whiti and Tohu.

- The troops ordered the destruction of the village and took Te Whiti and Tohu to jail in the south island without any trial for 16 months.the soldiers burned the houses and destroyed the village , without leadership Parihaka crumbled.

- What happened in the end??
- Tohu and Te Whiti were arrested and charged. 2 years later they were allowed to return to Parihaka where they continued their campain of protest through ploughing through the confiscated land. Tohu died in 1907, Te Whiti 11 months later. In June 2017, over 100 years later, the Crown apologised for the treatment of those at Parihaka
