- when Stanley had his first days in the camp and while he was digging his hands started bleeding
- Camp Green Lake It is no longer a lake because over a hundred years ago the lake dried up and the people who lived around it moved away. Now the lake is a dry and barren land. Stanley showers and heads to the 'Wreck Room'. He accidentally trips on another boy's foot, who then tries to start a fight. X-Ray and Armpit jump in and warn the other boy about messing with Caveman.

- Stanley wakes up sore and heads out to begin his second hole. While digging, he finds a fossil of a fish. Stanley remembers that Mr. Pendanski had asked them to show him if they found anything interesting.
- Stanley hears Squid crying, but Squid threatens to hurt Stanley if he says anything. Stanley doesn't talk to the other boys much for fear of making them angry. One day, Magnet steals Mr. Sir's bag of sunflower seeds, throwing it to Stanley, but the seeds fall into Stanley's hole.

- Sir visit the Warden's house. Mr. Sir tells the Warden about the stolen sunflower seeds and that he thinks Stanley is covering up for one of the other boys. The Warden has Stanley get her makeup case from the other room and tells him about her special red nail polish made out of rattlesnake venom.
- Trout has lost all his money and demands to know where Kate's outlaw loot is. Trout and Linda make Kate walk barefoot across the hot sand until Kate dies from the bite of a yellow-spotted lizard. Kate never tells them where the money is.
