Simple and Easy machines, but Easier and more Simple
This is Steven. He is the person who runs the train in this city. He will show you some of his friends who are very handy with machines. But first he will show you his favorite machine.
My favorite machine is the lever, it can be used to do all sorts of different things, like control the lights in our rooms, flush the toilet, or to open doors. but I mostly use it to stop my train. And when ever i want my train to move, the wheels & axle here help me, there are about 8 wheels per cart. it helps pull my heavy train to different places faster. So the power from the wheels get the work done faster.
I will bring you to my friend now, Chef Johnson.
I'm chef Johnson, I work in the city at a 5 star restaurant. My work needs to be very precise so I use a knife, it is a wedge, i use it to split things apart, like meat. I also use this system next to me to measure food so I know i have the right amount, it's called a pulley system. I will bring you to my friend Alex, he is a engineer.
Hey, I'm Alex. I am working on this building here, I am going to replace this stair case with a ramp. I am doing this so people with disability's can freely go up here. The ramp needs to be at a precise angle so people with wheel chairs can roll up here. The ramp is also known as a Inclined plane, it works by making work easier and more efficient. Things can go up or down faster. But i need to put screws at the bottom so i can stabilize the inclined plane. The screw works by either, keeping things together or apart. It keeps all the force on to a certain area so they stay together!
Now you know simple machines are everywhere. Even the simplest thing is a simple machine, the bed your laying on is held together by screws, your car or bike uses wheels, your light switch uses a lever, your parents use a wedge to make you food, and it keeps going. Simple machines have made our lives easier. It helps us work faster and easier. It also makes us use less of our power.
