- millions of sperm enter the vagina, but only very few are strong enough to survive the female reproductive system. Their first obstacle is avoiding the acids in the vagina that are deadly to sperm.

- inside the uterus, sperm are attacked by white blood cells, because the woman's body sees sperm as a foreign object which could potentially damage her body.
- implantation (uterus)
- the egg gives off a specific scent that the sperm can smell, leading the sperm to the egg for fertilization. at this point, the sperm is safe.
- i'm so glad i escaped those white blood cells. i'm almost there!! i can smell the egg from here.
- the fallopian tube is where the sperm and the egg meet, and fertilization takes place. Now the sperm has to shed it's outer layer and penetrate the egg.
- once implantation happens, the zygote is given nutrients from the endometrium, which would've otherwise been shed if there wasn't a fertilized egg. now the baby will be kept in here to develop for the next 9 months
