- Because the Americans were low on ammunition, they were told "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes."
- Future President of the United States, John Quincy Adams, watched the battle from a nearby hill with his mother Abigail Adams. He was seven years old at the time.
- British continue to work their way up the hill, stepping over the bodies of their dead and wounded comrades who lay “as thick as sheep in a fold".
- The Patriots retreated and returned to their lines outside the perimeter of Boston.
