- This scene is a depiction of justice because Francis continued to mock Atticus and mess with Scout. Scout then leashing out in angry and attacking him is her taking justice to be into her own hands. But, since she is only a child, what she thinks is justice is really just revenge. Proper justice is then served by Uncle Jack because he listens to Scout's side and is able to defend her to Atticus later on.

- This is another case of the children in the book not understanding the difference between justice and revenge. Jem rips up Mrs. Dubose's flowers because she continued to scream at them and call Atticus names in front of them. The real justice here is then served when Jem has to read to Mrs. Dubose and learn about why Atticus is nice to her and her drug problem.

- Here is an example in the book of justice not being served. Despite all the effort and truth Atticus and Tom put into getting him rightly acquitted, Tom was not. Therefore, Tom did not get the justice and freedom he deserved. Bob and Mayella both got away with lying in court solely because people then were conditioned to believe any white man over a black man no matter the conditions.

- The justice from the court scene that was not served was later some what corrected in this one. Here, after attacking the children, Bob Ewell is murdered by Boo Radley. This is Justice because Bob not only lied in court, was very racist, and beat his own daughter, he also attacked both Scout and Jem, trying to kill them both. So his death is very much justice.
- In this story, being a mocking bird means that you do nothing but good, making 'killing' them a sin. Tom Robinson is a mockingbird because all he wanted to do was simply help Mayella and had no intent of hurting anyone but he was still put in jail and later shot at despite all his good intentions.
- Using the same description of a mockingbird, Boo Radley also fits. He spent years and years inside his house not harming a soul and even helping the children on two occasions. Telling everyone that he saved the kids' lives would be like 'killing' him because it would make him uncomfortable even in his own home because the whole town would want to talk to him and congratulate and thank him.
