- Mark Antony, Octavius, and Lepidus discuss which conspiracy members should be executed. Antony and Octavius send Lepidus to get Caesar's will so they can "revise" it.While Lepidus is out, Antony explains that Lepidus is like a donkey: able to be trained and follow rules. Lepidus is only part of the group to be "led or driven, as we point the way."
- Brutus enters with Lucious, Lucillius, along with other soldiers. Titinius and PIndarus meet them. While together, they talk about Cassius and strained friendships. After this, Cassius enters with his armies.
- Cassius enters the scene, angry and ready to argue. When Brutus greets him, he begins to rant about being done wrong. Before he gets very far, Brutus stops him, and tells Cassius to go inside the tent, so that they can argue privately. The scene ends with Brutus and Cassius telling their soldiers to move farther away.
- Cassius and Brutus argue about wrongdoing, insulting, and condemnation. They argue about who is the abler soldier. Brutus accuses Cassius of loving flattery. And in rage, Cassius unsheathes his dagger and tells Brutus to kill him, if it's really so dishonorable. Brutus tells him to sheath the dagger, saying that Cassius' quick temper ends as quickly as it starts.
- Brutus and Cassius reconcile. Brutus explains that his temper stems from his grief over Portia's suicide. Cassius and Brutus then drink wine in honor of their reconciliation with one another. Titinius and Messala enter, with notes on the advances of Octavius and Antony. Brutus and Cassius debate over the best course of battle action. After Cassius relents to Brutus' argument, all the characters bid each other goodnight.
- Brutus' servants Varrus, Claudio, and Lucius enter his tent. Lucius plays some songs on the lute while the others fall asleep. Brutus has settled down to read when the ghost of Julius Caesar appears before him, calling himself "thy evil spirit, Brutus." The ghost simply tells him that they will meet again at Philippi, then disappearing into thin air. Brutus wakes up the others and asks them if they've seen anything, to which they deny. Brutus sends word to Cassius that they should prepare to march.
