Fun Fact: This rate of loss is 10 to 15 times faster than that of the most serious osteoporosis patient on Earth
Our bodies are not built to survive long without gravity. We lose 1-2% of our bone mass each month.
Why haven't humans gone to Mars yet? What is holding us back?
BREAKING NEWS: LIVE
ESA is developing a space suit that could help an astronaut in space for an extended stay or landing on mars!
No way! What will the suit do? How will it help? When can I get it?!
"The Gravity Loading Countermeasure Skinsuit could possibly provide valuable countermeasure against bone loss by mimicking the effects of gravity."
Wow, this is amazing! This technology could also be extremely useful on earth to prevent bone loss and muscle atrophy in coma patients and children with cystic fibrosis!
The effectiveness of the skinsuit would go on to be tested by astranaute Andres Mongensen on a 10 day mission to the IIS. Scientists are continuing to work on creating a suit to ensure that humans will one day walk on Mars.
