- Steuben and Layfayette came to train and help them in the war. Steuben is there to train the army and Layafette is there for moral support meaning he just rises there spirits.

- Sir Henery Clinton replaced General Howe as the commander. In his views when the British Concerd Philidephia that meant nothing.
- Washington was always there during battles supporting them and telling them to fight. This caught Layafatte's attention and he wrote about it.
- Washington Camped the night before the British arrived. British were very unaware of this happening so they didn't know what to do.
