- Lewis and Clark had traveled 123/8,000 miles in Kansas and they saw great beauty, animals, and many wild raspberries in the eastern part of Kansas.
- Andrew Jackson's Speech
- Zebulon Pike was the first American that had traveled by land. He was exploring Western Kansas and described it as "dry and sandy" and nothing could grow here.

- Stephen Long had been sent to Western Kansas to explore more of Kansas and it was much different than what Lewis and Clark had seen. Long explored the part of Kansas that was dry and not great for farming.

- Jackson wanted the Eastern farmland only for the "White American" farmers. He had convinced Congress that no American should have to travel to Kansas. They had moved the American's to the Indian American homeland and the Indian American's to Kansas.
- President Thomas Jefferson was looking for ways to expand the U.S territory. They wanted to double the size of the U.S to make it bigger and buying the and only costs $15 million.

- In 1830, The East American Indians were forced to relocate to Kansas and other areas. They had to move off their home land and move to parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.
