I will rest into this tree and loop my belt around the branch and the sleeping bag and refasten it around my waist that way if I roll over, I won't fall into the ground.
- Katniss remembers that Haymitch said to put as much distance between her and Peeta, to find water and to stay alive. At the start of the games, Katniss grabbed a loaf of bread, a piece of plastic and a back pack and ran into the woods.

- Katniss notices Rue hiding in another tree. She is pointing to a wasp nest just above Katniss's head. Katniss cuts the wasp nest so that it can fall on the Careers while they are sleeping
