- Antony returned to Egypt and persuaded Cleopatra to lend him money he needed to form an alliance with Herod the Great.
- I need some money.
- Antony felt strong enough now to invade Parthia. However the campaign was a disaster and after several military defeats Antony was forced to carry out an humiliating retreat.
- Octavian decided to destroy the triumvirate and form a new alliance. He began attacking Antony for leaving Octavia for Cleopatra.
- Octavian claimed that Cleopatra was trying to gain control of the Roman Empire by marrying Antony. She replied that her son was the true heir not Octavian.
- Octavian responded by declaring war on Cleopatra. Vast majority sided with Octavian.
- I declare a War!
- How dare you!
- Octavian defeated Antony . Antony and Cleopatra were forced to flee to Egypt. When Octavian’s troops surrounded Alexandria, Antony committed suicide by falling on his sword.
- Cleopatra was captured by Octavian but before they went back to Rome as Octavian prisoner, Cleopatra had a snake delivered to her room. She then committed suicide by allowing the snake to bite her.
