- In Julius Caesar's Act 1 Scene 2, a group of conspirators discuss their concern over Caesar's escalating authority and plan to take action to stop him from turning into a dictator. In their plan to kill Caesar, they look for the help of Marcus Brutus, a well-respected senator from Rome.
- act 2 scene 2
- Brutus is alone in his garden at night, thinking of the possible consequences of joining the plot to assassinate Caesar. Cassius pays him a visit and tries to convince him of something by bringing up Caesar's ambition and the need to protect the Roman Republic. Brutus eventually agrees to join the plot after Cassius presents him with fake letters from citizens begging for him to take action
- act 4 scene 1
- Caesar's wife, Calpurnia, begs him not to go to the Senate because she has had a bad dream about him being killed

- Despite her pleas, Caesar is convinced by Decius Brutus to go to the Senate and is ultimately assassinated by the conspirators.
- The Triumvirate meet to discuss their enemies and make a list of individuals to be executed.
