- In this scene, Douglass is feeling terribly sick. Covey spots Douglass sitting under a tree and immediately tells him to get up and start working. Douglass politely tells Covey that he is unable to get up, but Covey does not care. He gets mad at Douglass and starts to violently kick him.
- I don't care. I'll brutally kick you right now since you aren't working, you filthy peasant.
- You better get up and start working!
- But sir, I am too tired to work. If I keep working, I will collapse.
- BAM!
- Since you keep treating me in such an inhumane way; savagely whipping and beating me, I'll fight you right now for revenge!
- Douglass has had enough of Covey whipping him. He decides to gain some courage and fight Covey. They brutally fight for 2 whole hours.
- Bring it on, slave!
- That guy has got some real guts for fighting the master!
- After a long 2 hours of fighting, Douglass claims victory over Covey. Covey surrenders and says that he would never whip Douglass again. Douglass now achieves a new hope; freedom.
- Have a taste of your own medicine, Covey! Don't you ever whip me again! Get lost!
- Finally, a taste of freedom.
- I surrender! I will not hit or whip you ever again! Please, don't hurt me anymore.
