  • Odysseus sails with his crew, Only warning them about the sirens.
  • Odysseus is tied up to the lugger of the ship by his men
  • " 'Square in your ship's path are Sirens, crying beauty to bewitch men coasting by; woe to the innocent who hears that sound!' " (12. 5-10)
  • Odysseus' crew sails towards the Scylla and the Charybdis, nearly being swallowed by the Charybdis

  • “At dawn, Odysseus and his men continue their journey. Odysseus decides to tell his men only of Circe’s warning about the sirens, whom they will soon encounter. He is fairly sure that they can survive this peril if he keeps their hopes up…” (Fitzgerald, 394)
