Today we will be talking about the life cycle of a star.It all starts off with a nebula. A Nebula is a cloud of gas and dust in outer space, visible in the night sky either as an indistinct bright patch or as a dark silhouette against other luminous matter.
Nebula
The dust and gas start collecting together, due to gravity, and form a protostar.
Low Mass Protostar
High Mass Protostar
The protostar becomes so hot form the friction of collectin dust and gas, it ignites (Nuclear Fusion)
High mass main sequence star
Low mass main sequence star
Overtime the stars collect more dust and gas and become large, making them Red Giants and Red SuperGiants.
Red Supergiant
Red Giant
Planetary Nebula
Eventually the stars die. The supegiant has so much energy it explodes(Supernova). The giant get so big the outer shells start to break off, forming a planetary nebula.
Supernova
After the supernova is over it can become 1 of 2 things. Some matter can collect and create a neutron star, or some matter will come together causing high levels of gravity causing a black hole to form.
Nutron star
Black hole
White dwarf
After all the shells break off from a Planetary Nebula, it becomes a White Dwarf. After the star runs out of energy it becomes a black dwarf
