- Ms. Kinnian tells Charlie about the experiment done by Dr. Strauss and other doctors that can be done to potentially make him smarter and for his IQ to get in the higher range.
- Climax
- The conflict happens when Charlie thinks that the doctors aren't doing anything to make him smarter and that the tests done on him aren't actually working. This happened in the beginning of the book when signs of him becoming smarter weren't as easily seen.
- Falling Action
- Dr. Nemur shows Charlie Algernon and tells him that the mouse one time had the same IQ level as Charlie and after the experiment he got more intelligent which is made Charlie more interested in the experiment because his only goal was to get smart. 
- Resolution 
- Charlie goes to a convention where Dr. Strauss tries to tell the audience about the experiment and introduce the new Charlie to everyone but Charlie gets a bit irrational and tells everyone how the experiment didn't work because he will become dumb again. Then he lets out all of the test mice 
- Algernon the mouse died and Charlie's attachment is making Charlie have doubts himself because he's starting to get dumber and dumber. 
- Charlie tells Ms. Kinnian that he is leaving. Since he is now dumber than before the operation he doesn't want Ms. Kinnian to think of him in that way, so he believes it is for the best.
