- In this scene shown at the beginning of the book, Drew (the main character) and his friends meet at school to start off the school year. They talked about what they did over the summer, what classes they have, and how much they have grown over the summer and joked around a bit.

- Later in the story, Drew and his friends were eating lunch a couple of days before Halloween. When Andy decided to be nice instead of being his usual mean self, he asked them to be the Avengers. Each of them pretended to be the Avengers but instead wore their favorite costume because of how mean he was.

- This theme represents when Andy gets abandoned by Drew, Liam, and Jordan on being the Avengers for Halloween. After Halloween, Liam realizes that his brother made his face paint permanently green and pranked him. Everyone at school found out and started laughing and making Andy feel how he has been treating other people. They are getting payback for what he did to them.

- Midway through the book, Drew gets invited by the Principals' to help tour the school to new students thinking of coming next year. Drew and the school Principals tour the school to the potential new students, but did not do a good job and had a rough time. Later in the book, the Principals realized these students were not coming next year, so they worked to improve the tour during the year to increase the number of new students next year.
- Near the end of the book, Drew and Jordan gets to meet their friend at his mansion on spring break. Drew realizes how big Liam's house actually is and starts comparing it to his house which makes him very self-conscious. Jordan helps him through his feelings and Drew starts to feel more relaxed by not comparing his house against Jordans.
- At the end of the story, Liam and Jordan meet up with Drew to visit his house on summer break. Both Liam and Jordan get to see Drew's family and life, which helped them understand Drew. Everyone gets to play their favorite sport at the end and they all have a great time with Drew.
