- John White and around 80 colonists were sailing to Roanoke island. Soldiers were there waiting for them to arrive.
- Finally, we have arrived at Roanoke island! Life will be so much better!
- Oh no! One of our men has died! It must've been the Indians!!
- While trying to hunt for crabs, a man was shot with arrows and killed. White and his men assumed that the Natives (which they called Indians) killed him.
- Some of the colonists went to Croatoan Island to meet with the Croatoans, who they thought had killed one of their men. The Croatoans wanted a token of friendship so that the English knew they were friends. The English didn't give them anything.
- No thanks...
- May we have a token of friendship?
- Later that week, the colonists launched a surprise attack on the Croatoans, but they had made a mistake. The Croatoans were peaceful, but they still chased them. One native was shot and killed, and the others had to run away.
- WE WILL AVENGE OUR FALLEN COMRADE!!!

- On August 18th, John's daughter, Eleanor Dare, gave birth to his granddaughter, Virginia Dare. At this time the colonists were running out of supplies, and John felt pressured to go back to England to get more.
- I'm a grandfather now!
- I am a mother now!
- On a stormy day, John White left to go back to England, desperate to get there, desperate to get supplies, and desperate to get back to Roanoke Island.
- I really wish I didn't have to go. I miss my daughter and granddaughter.
- Because of politics, War, and the Spanish Armada, John White wasn't able to go back for 3 years. It was March 20th, 1590, when they had enough money to go back.
- When John White and his men got back to Roanoke island, they couldn't find anyone. Everything had disappeared. The only thing they could find was the word "CROATOAN" carved onto a tree. White gave up on trying to find them the colonists and headed back home.

- Nobody knows that happened to the Roanoke colony. They just disappeared. Nobody knows what happened to them, but people have their theories. What do you think happened to them?
