- Marie Curie was born on November 7 , 1867. Her father wanted her to be as well educated as his sons.
- In 1894, Marie Curie met Pierre Curie, a professor in the School of Physics. The following year, they were married.
- In the start of Marie Curie's career and research, conditions were difficult and laboratory arrangements were missing. The Curies had to fight to make money.

- During her lifetime, Marie Curie received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 and the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1911. Marie Curie was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and in two different fields.
