- Mr white and herbert were playing chess. Mr white had gilty grin on his thin gray beard after losing. After the match heavy footsteps came toward the door.

- Mr white anwsered the door to Sergeant-Major Morris. Mr whites family greeted them and they had a drink by the fire. Mr white brought up the monkey's paw and morris warned him about and threw it in the fire.

- Nothing, leastways nothing worth hearing.
- After Mr white got the monkey's paw he didnt know what to wish for. But then herbert said he should wish for 200 pounds to pay the house off. Mr white then wished but nothing happened.
- Rising Action
- Wish for two hundred pounds.
- I wish for two hundred pounds,
- Mr white and his wife find out herbert died. and as compensation the place he died at gives the family two hundred pounds. which is what they wished for.
- Herbert is Badly hurt, but he is not in any pain.
- Climax
- Is Herbert hurt?
- Mr White's wife suddenly remembered they still had the monkey's paw. So she told Mr White to wish him back to life. Mr White didn't want to do it but still ended up wishing him back to life.

- I wish my son alive again.
- Herbert came back to life but not as the same person. Mr White did not want to let him in. Ultimately using his last wish to kill him.

- Its Herbert!
