  • Lights come up on Sophie sitting at the dining room table eating angrily, Fannie enters from her room and helps Miss Leah who is struggling to cross from the front door to her chair that is in the center of the room. After Fannie helps Miss Leah to her seat she begins to clean up the dishes from the table. After Miss leah is seated she gets back up to grab her bible from the farside of the coffee table.
  • Minnie and Frank enter from their room door which is upstage center and they cross downstage to say good morning to everyone. Sophie crosses to Stage right of the coffee table in the living room and back to them with the deed papers. Fannie has crossed to the living room couch and begins to crochet while watching for them. Miss Leah is reading her bible during this
  • Minnie and Sophie cross to the table to continue talking about the deed and Frank is standing behind Minnie talking to her and Sophie until they hear the knock on the door. Fannie crosses to the door to let in Wil and then returns to the couch. Wil enters and gives the letter to Frank. After Frank reads it he throws it to the ground and storms off to the bedroom. All focus is on him throughout this sequence.
  • Fannie goes to pick up the letter, Sophie and Minnie cross to opposite sides of her as she reads the letter. Miss Leah gestures for Wil to help her get up and he assists her to the door. Fannie and Minnie embrace when Minnie says that she will be staying behind and Sophie and Fannie grab their things and exit through the front door that is stage right. Minnie goes upstage center into the bedroom.
  • Minnie enters the room and Frank is sitting on the bed facing upstage. she sits on the bed next to him facing the opposite direction and as she begins talking to him he stands up and begins to go on his rageful rant and is pacing back and forth.
  • when Minnie begins to talk about the land he remembers its value and begins to try to convince her to let him sell it by speaking calmly and warmly to her. Once she tells him that she won't sell the land he tries to grab her but she moves, he then pulls her close and grabs her by her throat. The scene would end with Frank Throwing Minnie to the ground.
