- Coraline's family moves into an old, spooky house. The house has three stories, the bottom floor is where two older ladies live. the second floor is where Coraline and her family live, the attic, (the third floor) is where a strange man from Russia lives. Coraline is not exited about this house, and is bored.
- Exposition
- Because Coraline ia bored, she decided to explore the house a little bit. Coraline came across a door. Coraline begged her parents for the key althought Coraline's mother said it led to nothing. A little around midnight, Coraline heard some odd sounds, Coraline went around the house to see what it was. Coraline found nothing so Coraline started to go back to her room when something moved. It was a dark shadow, Coraline waatched the shadow in shock as the shadow went through the door.
- And when Coraline opened the door, it was just a brick wall. Coraline went to see both of the older women in the lower suite, she drank some tea and Miss Spink asked to read the tea leaves, when she finished Miss Spink then told Coraline that she was in terrible danger.
