  • Nicola Sacco was born in Italy on April 22, 1891, in the Apulia region of Italy and emigrated to the US at age seventeen. Bartomoleo Vanzetti was born in the Piedmont region of Italy on July 11, 1888, and left for America when he was twenty
  • Sacco and Vanzetti met at a strike in 1917 in the US. These men more than likely followed Luigi Galleani, who was another Italian anarchist.
  • On April 15, 1920, in Braintree, Massachusetts, a shoe store was robbed and in the process, two men were shot and killed. After investigating, police came to believe it was committed by Sacco and Vanzetti. They were charged on May 5, 1920
  • At the first trial, the two men were found guilty on both charges of stealing and murder, but it was declared a mistrial because the jury was not being impartial
  • 100 witnesses came forward to testify for the men. Even with this, they lost and were sentenced to death. While waiting in jail, another criminal confessed that it was him who killed those people. After it was confirmed that Sacco's gun was used, they were put to death in August of 1927 by electric chair
  • Many years after the trial, it has been revealed that Sacco's gun was indeed used, but Sacco and Vanzetti had received an unfair trial. It is not exactly known whether they are innocent, guilty, or if only Sacco was guilty
