- Hi Benny! Nice to see you! How've you been?
- Hi Jenny! I'm ok, but having a big problem at home.
- Oh no! What seems to be the problem?
- I'm trying to get a big boy bed, but I can't figure out which one will fit! Do you have any ideas?
- Yes! You can find the area of your room and each bed to see which will fit! Let's head to your house!
- So. You said we can find the area. What's that?!
- Area is the amount of space inside of something.
- But, my room is so big! How can we possibly find the area!?
- That's easy! We just have to measure the length times the width of your room! Or, LxW = Area
- OH! Now I remember from school!
- That's great Benny! Let's get a ruler!
- There's my ruler!
- Let's go!!
- Now what?
- We have to measure two sides of your room. The length, and then the width.
- So if the length of my room was 10 feet, and the width was 15 feet, we just multiply right?
- Right! Your room is 150 square feet! Now when you find a bed make sure you find one with a smaller area.
- WOW! Thanks a lot Jenny! I'll be sure to bring my ruler with me to the store!
