  • Hunter Gatherer - Meal
  • Please don't move.
  • I hear something.
  • Hunter Gatherer - Shelter
  • Sometimes I wish we had a permanent home, but there is nothing like home sweet tent.
  • Learning to Farm
  • I wonder if I raked the ground if it would make it easier to plant the seeds.
  • I am glad that I no longer have to search for food.
  • Hunter-Gatherers could never be sure they would have a meal each night. In order to feed their families, they hunted animals and had to gather plants that grew wild.
  • Having a Stable Food Supply
  • Farming is hard work but it is a whole lot easier than hunting. At least I know what I am going to eat each night.
  • A hunter-gatherer family had to move around frequently to follow the herds of wild animals and to find more wild fruits and vegetables. To do this, their home had to be easy to move. Tents were the most functional option. They were usually made of animal skins.
  • Making Permanent Shelters
  • The Neolithic age was an era when humans learned agriculture, the practice of farming. They settled together in communities and began to domesticate animals and plants. Over time they learned to grow productive crops.
  • Beginning to Trade
  • I will trade you three skins in return for that basket of corn.
  • Once they learned how to farm, humans no longer had to follow herds of wild animals, or search the forests in hopes of finding food. Instead, they ate what their farms provided. They developed simple agricultural tools and their domesticated animals not only provided food, but also helped them to plow the fields and haul their loads.
  • People who were once Nomads adjusted to staying in one place, near their crops. They began building sturdy, long-lasting homes made of materials such as clay and stone.
  • I am so glad that we don't have to keep moving around all the time. I
  • Me too.
  • As more people successfully learned agriculture, they started to trade what they had produced to obtain other supplies they needed. People would meet halfway between their houses to exchange goods or would set up a market where many people came together to trade.
  • That sounds reasonable.
