- What is Cellular Respiration?
- The second step is the Krebs cycle, often known as the citric acid cycle, which occurs in mitochondria. Using pyruvic acid from glycolysis, this cycle creates energy through chemical processes that emit carbon dioxide. Oxygen is required for this procedure. The Krebs cycle is critical in creating ATP and delivering electron carriers for the following electron transport chain.
