- Once conceived, the idea haunted me day and night.

- Who's there?
- The story opens with antagonist, who is the narrator, telling the listener that he can prove his sanity by how calmly he can tell us how he murdered the old man. The narrator is unreliable because he clams that he has an diseases that allows him too hears things in heaven, earth , and hell but then contradicts himself by saying he can healthy tell us whole story. He tells us that his motivator for murder is simply the old mans "vulture eye".
- Climax
- I have finally gotten rid of that "vulture eye".
- The narrator is trying to tell us how smart he was. He watched the old man for seven whole nights , every night at midnight. The narrator will have tiny crevice of light come out of the lantern. The next day we will ask the old man how he slept to see if he suspects anything. On the eighth night he feels overly confident. The narrator chuckles which wakes up the old man.
- Falling Action
- The eighth night the old man was woken from a chuckle. There was an hour stand off with the old man and the narrator. The narrator fears that his beating heart will be heard from the neighbors. The heart beat was getting louder and louder, it was very vexing . He shrieks so does the old man.
- Resolution
- I confess to the murder of the old man. Tear up the floor boards there, you will find the reminds of his hideous beating heart.
- There was a loud stifled sound from the narrator , he had shrieked .The narrator grabs the mattress and smothers him with it. The narrator finally killed the old man. He finally got rid of that "vulture eye".
- The narrator took the dead old man. He chopped the old man up in the tub, his sagacity to chop him the tub. It had collected all the blood. Now where to hide the body. He took the floor boards out and placed the body parts under them. Just with sufficient time a knock on the door, was heard. It was three police men, the neighbors had heard a shriek.
- I'm so smart for cutting his body in the tub. All the blood will go down the drain.
- The narrator calmly welcomed them into the house, after all he had noting to worry about. He was so smart with the way he dealt with body. They search the whole house and find nothing. He sat them down in the very room were he hid the body. The narrator started to hear something it was getting louder and louder. He thought it was the old mans heart but it was his very own. He ended up confessing to the murder.
