- The Indians had a thing called a caste. It had different layers. The highest was the Brahmin. Those where the priests and teachers. The Kshatriyas were the warriors and rulers. The Vaishyas were the farmers, traders, and merchants. The Shudras are the labourers. And the Dalit(Outcast/Untouchables) were the street sweepers and the toilet cleners
