- Buddy was always at my side. We would play catch together, tog a war and all sorts of games with his toys
- At night Buddy kept me safe he would sleep on the floor next to my bed protecting me from bad dreams. If i ever woke up frightened Buddy would comfort me . Buddy would always know when i'm sad he would nuzzle his nose in my lap and hand me his paw.
- Sometimes Buddy would make me laugh, he would run in circles trying to catch his tail and he would roll around in the mud after rainy days
- I figured Buddy and I would be friends forever but than the summer Buddy turned 10 he got very sick
- Dad and I toke Buddy to the vet and he said Buddy is very sick and there is no medicine that can help him.
- When we got home from the vet office Dad gave Buddy a big hug You still got plenty of fight don't you old hound dog. We got to love Buddy as much as we can Dad said because he's not going to be with us much longer. My father turned away so i wouldn't see the tears in his eyes. I wrapped my arms around Buddy and kept them tight.
- We toke Buddy to his favourite field, He would chase squirrels and birds he ran but not as fast and as long as he used to. Worn out he collapsed on the grass its ok Buddy i told him ill take a rest with you you're still the best hound dog in the whole wide world he wagged his tail and licked my face.
- Soon after Buddy started limping and falling when he tried to stand. One morning he couldn't get up off the living room floor Mom pulled me onto her lap and told me that Buddy is go to die soon she explained when he leaves his body is going to be like an empty shell but his spirt is going to be everywhere in the clouds, in the fields and in the woods. All the good things about Buddy like his love for you will be yours to keep forever. I don't want Buddy to die i cried.
- One night Mom and I came home and saw Dad holding Buddy in his arms. Buddy gasped like he had been chasing a squirrel for hours. Dad rapped Buddy in a blanket and we kneeled by his side, i pet Buddy's head and kissed his cold nose you're the best hound dog in the whole wide world i whispered. Buddy's breathing grew slower and slower until it stopped he's gone Dad said. Mom held me close as Dad brought Buddy to the backyard woods to barry him. Goodbye Buddy i cried.
- The next morning me and Dad went for a walk in the woods. I searched for Buddy in the sky i searched if there was a cloud that looked like Buddy. Can't Buddy come back just for a little while i asked Dad shock his head you will have to remember him in you're heart.
- That night i dreamed of Buddy i felt his soft nose tickle my cheek and him resting on my lap. When the dawn light hit my room i reached out to hug Buddy but than i remembered he passed away.
- Near the end of the summer my chest stopped hurting when i thought of Buddy. My mother said it was time to go out we toke a walk to Buddy's favourite field and told stories about the best hound dog in the whole wide world. As we were walking home we saw a cloud that looked like buddy. I yelled its Buddy he's with us He will always be with us mother said. We starred up to the sky and said we love you buddy you were the best hound dog ever.
