- If you must...
- Stave 1 starts off by in scrooges office, we find out his old partner is dead and Scrooge still has the sign up to show that.
- Ahhhh!
- We find out the Scrooge has a nephew called Fred, he is nothing like Scrooge and Christmas is Freds favourite time of the year. Fred invites Scrooge over for Christmas dinner but is given the ‘Bah Humbug’.
- Scrooge and Marley
- Good afternoon!
- Bob Cratchit, Scrooges apprentice has asked for the day off for Christmas, Scrooge denies at first but then he lets him have it off. Scrooge then walks home where everyone avoids him and is scared/
- Can I just get them all done at once?
- Scrooge walks up to his house and sees his Marleys face on the door knocker, he avoids this, goes in and sits down. After a few minutes bells start ringing and all sorts start happening
- Two "portly gentlemen", collecting charity for the poor, come in afterwards, but they too are rejected by Scrooge, who points out that the poor laws and workhouses are enough to care for the poor. When Scrooge is told that many would rather die than go there, he snaps, "If they would rather die ... they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."
- Marley visits Scrooge and tells him he needs to change his ways before he ends up the same as Marley is. Marley also tells Scrooge 3 more spirts will visit him in the next 12 hours to make him enjoy Christmas and change his ways.
