Formally known as the Sears Tower, the Willis Tower in Chicago is one of the tallest buildings in the United States, standing at 1,450 feet tall (1,730 if you include the antenna towers). The construction of the tower took 2,000 works 3 years to complete, and it opened its doors in 1973.
Every year on the morning of Saint Patrick's Day, the Chicago River is dyed green. This tradition started in 1962. The dyeing method has changed to a more environmentally friendly procedure over the years.
