- How a bill becomes a law!
- Equality Bill

- It would prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and intersex status!
- What's the Equality Bill?
- Well, first the bill is introduced , given a label, and then placed in the hopper. The speaker of the house then assigns the bill to a standing committee.
- how would that be able to happen?
- A committee will deal with a specific issue, and the bill will be sent to the committee that relates to it. This bill was sent to the judiciary committee.
- What is a committee?
- Then, the bill is voted on in terms of ayes or nays. If the nays win, the bill dies. If the ayes win, the bill continues. In the senate, a senator can talk for as long as they want to. This is called a filibuster. If he bill is vetoed before getting to it's counterpart, it was pigeonholed.
- It is possible that a bill is created to amend and already existing law!
- Conference committees exist to draft a compromise bill that both houses can accept. The rules committee sent rules for the bill. This whole process goes through the HOR and the senate! Then, the president can either sign or veto it. A pocket veto is when the bill dies because congress adjourns in less than 10 days and the president didn't sign it.
