- So Carrie spent 9 years travelling around the world. But she didn't stop in her suffrage work; she continued to promote equal suffrage rights for women worldwide.

- In 1915, she returned to the USA and resumed presidency of the NAWSA. It had become badly divided over campaigning strategies.
- In 1916, Carrie proposed her "Winning Plan". This campaign focused on winning the vote in at least 36 states so that a federal amendment could be passed.

- Carrie played an important role in many key states. She united the multiple suffrage groups in New York, making them stronger, which greatly contributed to NY's suffrage victory in 1917.
- NY PASSES WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE BILL
- Finally on August 26, 1920, Carrie's hard work paid off. The 19th amendment was ratified by only 1 vote, allowing women to vote.
