- The king, Harold Godwinson was expecting an arrival from the south but got the message that one of his rivals Harold Hardrada is coming in the east north and is ready to attack.
- So the king set up his battle troop that had 7000 to 1500 men and started heading north.
- They were marching north and went 180 miles in 4 days. They were soexhuasted.
