- The French and Indian War lasted from 1754-1763 and involved Great Britain vs. France (and their Indian allies) in a fight over land in the Ohio River Valley. WHY WAS THIS IMPORTANT TO SOUTH CAROLINA?Well...it led directly to the Cherokee War in South Carolina!
- Bonjour! I am from France. Cherokee Native American! Yes, you! Would you like to trade furs?
- Well since we are in the Upcountry and there isn't much to do here...I guess so.
- The British force a peace treaty on the Cherokee in 1759. The Cherokee thought it meant to “share” the land but Great Britain used the treaty to control the land and Cherokee people.
- The Treaty where "share" doesn't really mean share.
- Pleaase help us! The French and their Native American allies are attacking us in the French and Indian War!!!
- Yeah no, I don't think so! I have to go drink my precious tea.
- Come on horses, us Cherokee are mad at the British now so we are gong to steal you from the American settlers!
- I the Royal Governor of S.C. will now have Cheroke Chiefs taken hostage. and also stop all trade with you Cherokee!
