- Adolescence - Identity vs. Role Confusion (ages 12-20)

- Young Adulthood - Intimacy vs. Isolation (20s-30s)

- In Erikson's 1st stage of development, the infant is able to develop trust with other people. The infant's mother is helping him do this by providing love and care.
- In Erikson's 5th stage of development, teenagers begin to mature into adulthood as physical and hormonal changes occur. Conflict in this stage are the confused feelings about identities as teenagers transition into adulthood.
- In Erikson's 6th stage, people start to develop intimate relationships and start families with a partner. Conflict in this stage can be the fear of making commitments and may lead to isolation and loneliness.
